Pal-GHK (Palmitoyl-GHK)

Overview

Pal-GHK (palmitoyl tripeptide-1) is a lipophilic derivative of the naturally occurring tripeptide glycyl-histidyl-lysine (GHK), in which a palmitic acid chain is attached to improve skin penetration. It is a cosmetic ingredient rather than a drug, and it appears in topical formulations marketed for skin aging and support of dermal matrix.

Mechanism

The GHK moiety carries the proposed signaling activity; in cell-culture studies, GHK-related peptides have been associated with increased production of collagen and other matrix molecules by dermal fibroblasts. Palmitoylation is intended to anchor the peptide within skin layers and enhance its delivery into the epidermis and dermis after topical application.
