Overview

SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic small-molecule agonist of the estrogen-related receptors (ERRs), principally ERR-alpha, developed at Saint Louis University. It is not a peptide. It has been reported to act as an exercise mimetic, increasing fatigue resistance and oxidative metabolism in preclinical mouse studies.

Mechanism

ERR-alpha is a nuclear receptor that regulates genes for oxidative metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis. SLU-PP-332 binding activates these transcriptional programs, increasing the expression of metabolic and mitochondrial genes in skeletal muscle, which underlies the reported endurance effects.
